There’s one common trait that viral videos have in common and it’s a great hook.

A hook is the first 2-3 seconds of your video that makes people want to watch more. It gets them engaged, stop scrolling, gets them interested and ultimately get them to watch the rest of your video.

Hook leads people to believe that they’re gonna get a pay off by watching the video.

If you're spending the time to make videos for social, then it stands reason you want people to watch them.

Here are 20 hooks and five visual tactics you can use to get people to stop scrolling:

5 VISUAL HOOKS

  1. Use a random object as your microphone
  2. Sit down as soon as you start your video.
  3. Do an every day activity while you’re talking about something else.
  4. Start your video on the glory action shot (cheese pull, burger cut and show, noodle lift)
  5. Start talking to the camera, but then pretend you’re being interrupted and talk to somebody off the camera about something not related.

And always, always, always ... POINT AT YOUR FOOD!!
