Life, in all its complexity, can sometimes feel like it’s pressing down on us from every angle. When it comes to becoming the person we aspire to be, that pressure often appears as doubt, second-guessing, or obstacles we never saw coming. Yet, it’s in those thick, soil-like moments that we need to dig in and keep pushing.
One of my favorite analogies is the humble blade of grass, determined to break through the soil. It has no clue how far it is from the sun but knows it must keep going upward. This fragile growth fights through dirt and stone without any guarantee—until it finally breaks through to the light. At that moment, it never questions if the struggle was worth it; it just continues to reach for the sun.
We, however, question ourselves constantly. We overanalyze, worry, and sometimes talk ourselves out of following through. That’s where “be more interested than interesting” comes in. Rather than letting self-doubt consume us, we need to immerse ourselves in each opportunity. Press, and keep pressing, because you might be just one push away from success.
Yes, the soil can feel heavy and unyielding. It might come in the form of family issues, business setbacks, or unexpected financial hits. But you might also be inches from a breakthrough. Like the blade of grass, keep pressing upward, even when you can’t see the light yet.
Uncertainty usually accompanies big goals. If you don’t feel at least a little unsure, maybe you’re not aiming high enough. Challenges aren’t signs to turn back; they’re invitations to grow. Betting on yourself and the abundance of the universe isn’t just feel-good advice—it’s a strategic choice. You acknowledge the greatness within you and trust that there’s enough in this world for everyone to thrive.
The most successful people in history faced layers of dirt. They persisted because they believed in their vision. Consistency trumps intensity—real growth comes from showing up day after day, even when the path looks dim. We often quit right before success, when the soil feels thickest.
So, here’s my challenge: The next time you feel buried by life—whether it’s career struggles, money worries, or emotional turmoil—picture yourself as that blade of grass. Even if you’re buried under more weight than you’ve ever known, keep pushing up. Don’t quit. The sun’s just a few more inches away.
Everything arrives at the perfect time. It’s your job to keep going until that moment happens—because once you break through, you’ll see it was worth every ounce of effort.
